Grab Your Axe - Lets Rock!

Who wants to help build the definitive rock and blues web site? We are currently working on loading this site up with a lot of great info, hands on reviews, jam tracks and more!

Hi, they call me Rocks, I’ve been playing guitar and bass for about 25 years. I’ve been seeing a steady decline in good quality music and decided it was time to create a place to help preserve TONE and GREAT MUSIC!

After being in many great bands and also seeing many others, I’ve learned that great music is all about the tone and feeling each instrument adds to a song. That is why this site will discuss more then just guitars and basses. So join in, contribute what you know and help build this into a great place to learn about great music and great instruments.

Nothing like the thunder of a great sounding bass. We all know when you go to a concert it is the bass that we feel the most, it vibrates our very core. So with that in mind we will be examining my first love, bass guitars. Everything from vintage basses to the latest beasts of boom. So grab your bass, lets make the walls shake until that beer stained velvet picture of dogs playing poker falls to the floor.
Tube AmpsSweet soulful tones… We all know and love the sound of a great tube amp overdriven and screaming. In this section we will discuss vintage tube amps, new models and also do it yourself homebrew tube amps. We will focus on everything from high-power fire breathing beasts to very low wattage tube amps for practice and recording use. Solid State AmpsSolid State amps have made huge improvements over the years and with the new modeling amps you can really get some great tone. The great thing about most solid state amps is they have head phone outputs, very handy for late night practice. They are also great for incredibly clean tone for certain styles of music.
EffectsTOYS! We all love to play with effects, even if we don’t normally use them in the music we play. A great reverb, or just the right amount of delay or chorus really can add to your sound. Many times a just screwing around with a new effect will open up new ideas in your playing. So in here we will discuss all typed of vintage and new effects, even some homebrew projects for building effects from parts.
